How You Can Use CBD’s Anti-Inflammatory Properties To Fight Pain In Your Body

How You Can Use CBD’s Anti-Inflammatory Properties To Fight Pain In Your BodyYou know that feeling when you’ve been sitting at the computer a bit too long and your wrists start to sting?Or when you’ve been on your feet all day at work, only to return home at night with an aching back. What’s happening in your body is called inflammation, a defensive response to injury. Although athletes are the group that most commonly experience inflammation in the body, everyday behaviours and tasks can cause them too!So how can you relieve the pain caused by inflammation? It turns out, one of the most effective pain relieving ingredients you can use is CBD oil. In this article we’re going to delve a little deeper into how exactly you can use a CBD oil or salve for everyday pain, and which ingredients can help amplify its effectiveness!

What are the typical methods for dealing with inflammatory pain in the body?

Ever heard of?

  • Aspirin
  • Ibuprofen
  • Naproxen

These are three of the more common over-the-counter, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID’s) suggested by doctors for pain management. But just like any other drugs, they do have the potential for side-effects.  In fact, FDA has warned against these NSAID’s because “non-aspirin NSAIDs increase the chance of a heart attack or stroke.” Fortunately, there are alternative pain management solutions available, such as CBD oil. And if athletes, the group most prone to injury, are slowly making the transition to alternative pain management with CBD, then we should pay attention, right?

How does CBD oil help for pain?

CBD (cannabidiol) is only one of 120 compounds also known as cannabinoids. Typically, CBD is harvested from industrial hemp, which contains less than 0.03% THC. Although a common misconception, CBD doesn’t affect the endocannabinoid system (ECS) in our bodies the same way THC does. THC is the compound responsible for that euphoric “high” feeling. Instead, CBD works by interacting with your brain and receptors and immune system. One way for example is by reducing the pain felt in the body by preventing absorption of anandamide, a compound responsible for managing pain. Another one of the major benefits of CBD oil is its ability to help relieve chronic pain symptoms.

Which ingredients help increase CBD’s pain effectiveness?

While CBD oil by itself is great for pain management, when combined with certain ingredients, it’s natural inflammatory fighting power gets a boost!Let’s delve into a few of our favourite ingredients that help to increase the bioavailability of CBD oil. ArnicaA tried and true pain remedy, arnica contains thymol, a compound that increases white blood cell flow and gets rid of pain causing fluids in the tissues, joints, and muscles. Applied topically, The European Journal of Sport Science published a study which proved a reduction in pain and muscle tenderness amongst participants after exercising. CamphorCamphor is typically used in conjunction with other pain relieving ingredients as a balm, and works by increasing blood flow. This reduces swelling and pain, but also prevents redness and itchiness from injuries. CajeputAlthough not studied that much in humans, cajeput is analgesic in nature. This means it reduces feelings of discomfort and pain by providing a warming and numbing effect, which naturally makes it a popular ingredient in pain relief balms.
